Hillsborough County Traffic Engineering Update - June 4, 2021

Two resident requests were sent to Hillsborough County Traffic Engineering for evaluation:
> Reduce community speed limit
> Crosswalk at community exit

A resident was concerned about speeding in the community with the number of children riding bicycles and otherwise using the streets.
County Traffic Engineering evaluated the request and advised "No Change" - the current 25 MPH speed limit is the standard for our type of community.

A resident was concerned about the absence of a crosswalk at the community exit.
Drivers exiting the community tend to drive past the Stop sign before stopping to look for cross traffic on McMullen Road.
The vehicle will then be in the area where sidewalk crosses through the exit.
A bicyclist speeding down the sidewalk (or a pedestrian who is not paying attention and steps into the road) could have a collision with the vehicle.
County Traffic Engineering evaluated the request and advised "No Change" - the pedestrian volume and current guidelines do not warrant a crosswalk.

Exercise Caution When Exiting The Community !

A resident was concerned about late night and speeding traffic on McMullen Loop.
Hillsborough County Sheriffs Department was contacted and the resident's concern discussed.
HCSO advised they submitted a request for patrols to have additional presence on McMullen Loop at night.
